Salzburg Cultural City
A visit to the county capital, Salzburg is a particular highlight for culture fans. Salzburg has achieved worldwide fame as the birthplace of the famous Austrian composer, Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart and is an important centre for classical music. A highlight in the summer is the Salzburg festival, there are uncountable cultural events throughout the year and another highlight, the “Jedermann” - a performance at Domplatz which amazes classical fans from all over the world.
Salzburg also offers numerous opportunities for a pleasant stroll through the historic old town and wonderful park areas, such as the Schlosspark (castle parks) of Schloss Mirabell or Schloss Hellbrunn with the famous fountain. A visit to Hellbrunn zoo is an especially exciting experience for children.
Zell am See
The mountain town of Zell am See enchants through its stunning location in the middle of the Pinzgauer grass mountains and the Zeller See (a lake) from which it gets its name. Zell am See is situated in the middle of a beautiful through valley, through which both the Salzach and Saalach rivers flow. The wonderful natural landscape around the mountain town provides many opportunities to visit places and rejuvenate.
Krimml Waterfall & Water Wonder World
The Krimml waterfall offers you a breathtaking natural spectacle. The Krimml waterfall’s rushing mass of water falls 380m over three levels into the deep and is the highest waterfall in Europe and the 5th highest in the world.

Eisriesenwelt Werfen (ice caves)
Eisriesenwelt Werfen in the Salzburg Tennen mountains holds a special natural experience ready for you. A huge underground cave network opens up a fascinating world of ice with bizarre shapes and magnificent ice sculptures to visitors in very frosty temperatures. This cave system was first discovered at the beginning of the last century and, in aa impressive way, is a testament to the creative beauty of nature. It’s well worth a visit!
Großglockner with the High Alpine Road
With a height of 3798m, the Großglockner is the highest mountain in Austria and forms the geographic boarder between the regions of Salzburg, Tyrol (east Tyrol) and Carinthia. The Großglockner, with its unique natural landscape is a part of the transnational Hohe Tauern national park and offers uncountable panoramas and places to visit for mountain and nature lovers. The first ascent of the mountain was on 28th July 1800 by Martin and Sepp Klotz and Pfarrer Horasch and since then, numerous mountaineers have overcome Austria’s highest mountain.
The Großglockner high alpine road offers unique vistas, was opened in 1935 and is among the masterpieces of high alpine road engineering. The mountain pass road snakes up to Franz-Josefs-Höhe at 2369m and gives a magnificent view over the Pasterzen glacier and the Großglockner. The breathtaking nature around the Großglockner promises for a mountain experience that you will never forget.
Kaprun High Mountain Reservoir
The high mountain reservoir in Kaprun is an impressive example of energy production from renewable sources. Embedded in the breathtaking backdrop of the highest mountain in Austria, the high mountain reservoir in Kaprun is a masterpiece of energy production. Salzburg Open-Air Museum
The Salzburg open-air museum offers the chance to learn about 60 original rural buildings from all over the Salzburg region. The managed houses were labour-intensively and under the eye of experts, taken down, renovated and reconstructed again, true to the originals, in the open-air museum. These original rural buildings are important historical monuments of a traditional, countrified living environment that has stamped the region of Salzburg, its culture and its traditions for hundreds of years.
